Ultima Thule songs use a mixture of folk, classical and traditional punk music to create a new style of music they called Viking Rock
The band became well known but split in 1986, but after 4 years they reunited for fun to play some old songs. Janne had to take over the singing as Ultima Thule's former singer Bruno left the band.Nicklas then became a guitarist. Ultima Thule recorded 6 albums,3 gold discs and 6 singles to 1994 and there is no doubt that Ultima Thule is a controversial band for many. The music industry's ''Top Brass'' was attacked by this ''underground'' band
Such a good band creates much jealousy and hypocrisy. The press raged against Ultima Thule. The Swedish history and Nordic mythology the band sings about were miss-interpreted as racist even though the band only show their emotion and their awareness of their traditions in their lyrics. However, today we see Ultima Thule's songs on the charts and Ultima Thule are currently one of the greatest underground bands and more and more big band mention Ultima Thule as their greatest role models and even large companies EMI have taken interest in obtaining contracts

Not in this band's case. A reporter did a Hitler salute at their show and they dropped their gear, said they didn't want to play for s and never played a show again

i think it has to do with the misunderstood term Skinhead. it never started as racial n stil isnt in most cases. Its just like the word Aryan. we can thank the people of misinforming for taking what is a beautiful term of Aryan and making it ugly and the swastika was reduced to same level of treatment by the s simply reversing it and having it diagonal form totally b*stardised :( *

The band issued a statement making clear they do not consider themselves racist nor are they neo- s. In their own words,
''This country must ask itself about it's mental health, when patriotic songs about Sweden and texts from our history books are deemed equivalent to racism. We live in an increasingly shrinking and globalised world and in one way, it is important for people to know their own roots and for people to feel their national pride. If we Swedes are not allowed to show esteem and pride about our own country without being called racists, this makes it much more difficult to show others respect for their own particular identity and singular characteristics. We have taken note of our right to be proud of our own country and we do not tolerate some obscure publication linking our music with racism and sm'' *

My friend bought a copy in Sweden of the Ultima Thule DVD, apparently she went into the shop, saw it at the same time as 2 other people, and while they were trying to bid more than the other, she walked off with it and payed at a different counter
